China has revealed the world’s first hospital operated by artificial intelligence, where robotic doctors are expected to treat up to 3,000 patients daily.
Named "Agent Hospital," this innovative virtual facility aims to save millions of lives through autonomous interaction.
Developed by researchers at Tsinghua University in Beijing, this advanced AI hospital is set to revolutionize healthcare, with plans to be fully operational by the second half of 2024.
The hospital’s launch follows six months of intensive research and development, promising to transform the way doctors diagnose and treat patients.
According to The Sun, the rapid progress in AI technology means that the hospital is nearing practical readiness.
Lead researcher Liu Yang stated that the AI hospital would provide enormous benefits for both medical professionals and the general public.
"Thanks to its simulated environment and ability to independently evolve, AI doctors will be able to treat up to 10,000 patients within days," Liu said, as reported by the Global Times.
"To put this into perspective, it would take human doctors at least two years to reach the same numbers."
Tests conducted by Chinese researchers have already demonstrated that AI-powered medical agents achieve an impressive accuracy rate of 93.06% on the MedQA dataset (US Medical Licensing Examination questions).
Covering major respiratory diseases, these virtual medical specialists can simulate the complete process of diagnosing and treating patients, including consultations, examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-ups.
