At least 28 people were killed in an avalanche in the city of Ningchi in southwest China's Tibet region, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Friday evening.
The English-language Global Times in China quoted a local government official in the western region as saying that 53 survivors had been found, five of whom were seriously injured.
Xinhua revealed that the avalanche was caused by strong winds with a rise in weather temperature and occurred at 8:00 pm (12:00 GMT) last Tuesday, as people and vehicles were stranded due to the heavy snowfall.
