China's permanent representative to United Nations (UN), Zhang Jun, said that the war in Gaza will top agenda of UN Security Council during China's rotating presidency of Council this month.
Zhang stressed that it is "necessary to encourage a ceasefire and stop fighting, prevent more civilian casualties, a widespread humanitarian disaster, and the spread of the conflict," according to official website of China's CCTV network.
Zhang also pointed out that the UN Security Council will also consider issues including Syria, Yemen, and Bosnia and Herzegovina this month.
It will also take action on the UN Assistance Mission in Sudan and hold its annual dialogue with Commissioner-General of United Nations Peacekeeping Police.
China took over the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of November on Wednesday.
