China has imposed sanctions on 13 US defense companies and six American executives in response to their involvement in arms sales to Taiwan, escalating tensions between Beijing and Washington over the sensitive issue of Taiwan’s sovereignty.

In an official statement, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the recent US approval of arms sales to Taiwan, asserting that it "flagrantly violates the One China principle and the three joint communiqués between China and the United States."

The statement described the sales as a "serious interference in China’s internal affairs" and an act that undermines the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The sanctions target major American military contractors responsible for supplying advanced weaponry to Taiwan. While specific names were not disclosed, the affected entities are likely to include prominent defense companies involved in exporting arms systems to the island.

Additionally, six senior executives from these firms face personal sanctions. These measures may include restrictions on their ability to travel to China, conduct business within its borders, or interact with Chinese entities.
