China officially announced fully vaccinating more than a billion residents against COVID-19, Sputnik reported on Thursday.
More that two billion vaccine shots were given across the state, marking China to reach a new milestone by fully vaccinating more than 70% of its massive population.
However, China started imposing more strict restrictions after reporting a new rise of daily COVID-19 infections.
In addition, the state urged its cities on the eastern coasts to conduct more COVID-19 tests, alongside tighting the lockdown imposed on some cities.
Moreover, authorities placed several security spots at toll booths in Fujian provinenc, including its capital Putian, and they closed another 12 cities in the same province such as Xiamen, and Quanzhou after the emergence of Delta variant.
The authorities recorded more new 50 COVID-19 cases in several Fujian’s cities.
Some of the recently imposed restrictions are wearing masks, lockdown, and quarantine, calling citizens to stay at home, suspending group activities, and shutting down entertainment destinations.
Early this week, China detected new spot of Coronavirus infections in Fujian province after reporting new six domestic COVID-19 infections in it.
Authorities added that 18 persons tested positive of COVID-19 in Fujian’s major city, Putian, however, they didn’t suffer from any symptoms.
