China has reaffirmed its commitment to brokering a lasting ceasefire between the United States and Iran, signaling a major diplomatic push to restore stability in the Middle East. During a high-level meeting in Beijing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that political and diplomatic dialogue remains the "fundamental path" to ending the current hostilities.

The statement followed discussions between Wang Yi and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Special Envoy of the UAE President. Al Mubarak was accompanying Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on an official state visit to China.

Strategic Cooperation with the UAE

Wang Yi highlighted Beijing's intention to collaborate closely with the international community, specifically the United Arab Emirates, to "restore peace and tranquility" to the region. He noted that China fully understands the "legitimate security concerns" of Arabian Gulf states and supports the UAE in protecting its national sovereignty and rights.

The Diplomatic Roadmap

"Achieving a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire through political and diplomatic means is the only way forward," Wang stated, as reported by the Xinhua News Agency. The meeting underscores China's growing role as a mediator in regional conflicts, positioning itself as a stabilizing force alongside Gulf partners.

Deepening Bilateral Ties

The visit of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince marks a significant milestone in Sino-Emirati relations. Both sides expressed optimism that the visit would deepen strategic mutual trust and expand practical cooperation across various sectors. For his part, Al Mubarak praised China’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate Middle Eastern tensions and expressed the UAE's desire for Beijing to play an even more prominent role in regional diplomacy.
