China's Global Times newspaper said that the cause of Ukraine’s crisis is largely triggered by NATO’s aggressive eastward expansion.
The writer of the article said that NATO does not have the right to criticize Russia because the conglomerate had already launched many ruthless military aggressions. For example, the newspaper mentioned NATO's aerial bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999 during the Kosovo.
The writer noted that instead of reflecting on its policy, NATO puts pressure on other countries to work with the alliance against Russia. He described that as somewhat unwise and ominous, expressing the belief that NATO should have been liquidated a long time ago.
He stressed that NATO’s hands are stained with blood, and it has always posed a serious threat to global and regional safety.
Cheng Yi, a professor at Fudan University said in an interview with the newspaper that NATO is required to apologize for shelling Yugoslavia in 1999, which killed 3 journalists and more than 20 people were injured.
He expressed the opinion that after the end of the Cold War, NATO violated international law and threatened the sovereignty and territorial of other countries.
