China has successfully launched a high-precision satellite designed to detect greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening its capabilities in environmental monitoring from space.
The satellite was carried aboard a Long March 4C rocket, which lifted off at 12:10 Beijing time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
The mission marks the 638th launch in the Long March rocket series, underscoring the country’s expanding space program.
The new satellite is expected to enhance China’s ability to track greenhouse gas emissions with greater accuracy, supporting global efforts to combat climate change and improve environmental data collection.
The launch forms part of China’s broader strategy to advance space technology and develop sophisticated Earth observation systems, aligning with international commitments to reduce emissions and achieve long-term sustainability goals.
