China successfully launched the Fengyun-3 08 satellite today to enhance capabilities in weather forecasting, atmospheric chemistry research, and climate change monitoring, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
The satellite is equipped with nine remote-sensing payloads, including a medium-resolution spectral imager and a microwave imager.
CNSA stated that the mission will strengthen China’s capacity for global numerical weather prediction, improve responses to climate change, and enhance disaster prevention and mitigation.
The Fengyun-3 08 was launched aboard a Long March-4C carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China and has successfully entered its planned orbit.
Officials emphasized that the new satellite will play a vital role in supporting China’s long-term strategy for space-based environmental monitoring and global scientific collaboration.
