China handed over 17 rescued Filipino sailors on Sunday after they were pulled from the waters near Huangyan Island.
The Xinhua News Agency reported that on Friday, contact was lost with a Singapore-registered cargo ship near Huangyan Island while it was en route from the Philippines to China. Two of the 17 rescued sailors were confirmed dead, and four others remain missing.
