Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi on Saturday welcomed the joint Chinese-French call to advance conditions for implementing the two-state solution and sustaining the cease-fire in Gaza. The position was reaffirmed at the conclusion of French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Beijing on Friday.
Al-Yamahi praised both nations for supporting the UN General Assembly’s recent adoption of the “New York Declaration,” which endorses a framework for resolving the Palestinian question and advancing the two-state solution.
He also commended Chinese President Xi Jinping and Macron for urging full implementation of the Oct. 9 Sharm el-Sheikh cease-fire agreement and for calling to ensure rapid, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid across Gaza.
Al-Yamahi hailed China’s pledge of $100 million in assistance for Palestinians, saying it reflects Beijing’s strong and consistent support for their legitimate rights and international efforts to secure a permanent cease-fire.
He added that both China and France demonstrate a clear commitment to just and lasting peace, reaffirming the Arab Parliament’s ongoing backing for Palestinian statehood with East Jerusalem as its capital.
