Zhang Jun, China's Permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) said the security of the humanitarian corridors in Ukraine should be ensured, adding that the UN's efforts to help Ukraine should be supported.

In his word before the Security Council's plenary session, Zhang Jun warned against politicising the humanitarian file in Ukraine, pointing out that a common position must be reached to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Moreover, the Chinese official affirmed that countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity should be respected, reiterating Beijing's support for diplomatic solutions in Ukraine.

He also added that sending offensive weapons and mercenaries will exacerbate the war in Ukraine, urging Russia and Ukraine to continue diplomatic meetings.

In addition, China's representative to the UN expressed his country's readiness to mediate in Ukraine crisis.

On Tuesday, Russian-Ukrainian war entered its twelfth day in a row, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launching of military operations on Ukraine, in the morning of February 24.

European, Western and American countries imposed huge economic sanctions on Russia. The sanctions also targeted Moscow’s leaders, led by President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
