On Monday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz does not serve the common interests of the international community.
In a statement, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi both affairmed that Strait is a critical international passage for global trade and energy transportation.
He called for "calm and restraint" from all parties involved, following the U.S. announcement of a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
He also noted that Beijing maintains that the only way to resolve the crisis is through political means, including an immediate ceasefire and the end of hostilities.
He expressed his country’s readiness to work with all sides to safeguard global energy security and ensure unimpeded supply chains.
