China has activated a Level IV emergency response to tackle severe flooding in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The move comes amid ongoing heavy rains and risks triggered by the lingering impact of Typhoon Wutip.

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters also announced that a Level III emergency response remains in effect for the southern provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi.

Local governments have been urged to intensify inspections and strengthen risk mitigation measures, especially in flood-prone mountainous areas, low-lying urban zones, and regions at risk of geological disasters.

Authorities are also focusing on the safety of small and medium-sized reservoirs, as well as densely populated zones vulnerable to flash floods and typhoon-induced hazards.

The Chinese government continues to monitor weather developments closely as Typhoon Wutip threatens to bring further damage across the region.
