Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and his accompanying delegation returned to the homeland after his official visit to Italy, which lasted for several days.
Askar, during the visit, met with Marine Lieutenant General Giuseppe Caffo Dragwane, Chief of the General Staff of the Italian Defense at the headquarters of the General Staff of the Italian Defense, where an official reception ceremony, a parade of honor guards were held.
The two sides held a discussion session that dealt with a number of topics of common interest and ways to enhance areas of bilateral cooperation between the Egyptian and Italian armed forces, as well as current regional developments and their impact on security and stability in the region.
Askar also inspected the Joint Operations Command of the Italian Armed Forces and listened to a presentation on the nature of the command’s work and the technical systems and mechanisms for command and control it includes.
He also made a field visit to one of the combat units, which included inspecting a number of combat training and shooting ranges and imitations, as well as the equipment, vehicles and weapon systems used, praising the high level of training and the distinguished capabilities possessed by the members of the Italian Armed Forces with their various weapons and specializations.
The visit also included meeting with a number of officials from Italian companies working in the field of defense industries and visiting some of the companies' products during the manufacturing stages.
The visit comes within the framework of the deepening relations of military partnership and cooperation between the Egyptian and Italian armed forces.
