Israel's Channel 14, which is close to Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed on Wednesday the resignation of Yisrael Shomer, head of the Operations Division of the Israeli army's General Staff, following an internal investigation into suspected professional and ethical misconduct.
The Israeli channel reported that Shomer had been under investigation by the military police regarding suspected work-related violations, including allegations of inappropriate behavior within the military establishment.
According to the same sources, he was temporarily suspended from his post pending the completion of the investigation. He then submitted a request to end his military service and take immediate retirement, which the Israeli army accepted, considering the decision a "resignation for personal reasons."
