Chevron works with Egypt to Accelerate Development of Narges Offshore Field

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources held a discussion session with Robert C. (Clay) Neff, President of Chevron Middle East, Africa, South America Exploration and Production Company and his accompanying delegation, which is participating in the activities of the EGYPES 2024 conference.

The discussions dealt with enhancing aspects of cooperation between the two sides, especially in the field of natural gas production and optimal exploitation of the facilities available in the Eastern Mediterranean region to accelerate the development of discovered gas fields.

El-Molla stressed that the two sides are working to accelerate the development of the Narges offshore field, and to increase their cooperation with regard to receiving and exporting Eastern Mediterranean gas.

On his part, Neff stressed Chevron’s keenness to speed up seismic surveys and development stages. He explained that Chevron conducted a study that showed that exporting Eastern Mediterranean gas through Egypt is a more suitable option.

The minister of petroleum also met with Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the UAE Dragon Oil Company, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the company’s activities in Egypt and its targeted plans to increase production rates through drilling a number of development wells and implementing several projects were reviewed.

The company's president also reviewed the oil exploration development position (North Safa) in the Gulf of Suez region, which the company achieved in partnership with the Egyptian Petroleum Authority through GAPCO, where the first development well was put on production at a rate of 2,500 barrels per day, and with the completion of the development stages, its production reaches 6,000 barrels per day.
