King Charles III made a historical move on Thursday as he became the first UK Monarch to speak in the main hall of the French Senate.

During his speech, he asserted that France and Britain should combine forces to resist the fierce aftermath of climate change. He also proposed a new version of the 1904 Entente Cordiale.

"I would like to propose it also becomes an 'Entente pour la Durabilite' (Partnership for Sustainability) in order to tackle the global climate and biodiversity emergency more effectively," he told the French Sénat.

King Charles III pledged to strengthen the ties between France and Britain, recommending the "indispensable" partners should consider the climate emergency together.

"For the time that is granted to me as King, I pledge to do whatever I can to strengthen the indispensable relationship between the United Kingdom and France," he said. "Quite simply, the United Kingdom will always be one of France's closest allies and best friends," he added.

Moreover, He vowed that both countries will stand in solidarity with Ukraine, describing: "Our alliance and our resolve are as important as ever. Together, we stand in resolute solidarity with the Ukrainian people."

During the speech, he also paid tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her keenness in enhancing the ties between the UK and France.
