Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Charbel Wahbe submitted his resignation to President Michel Aoun, the Lebanese presidency announced on Wednesday.
It tweeted that Aoun received Wahbe at Baabda Palace and proposed his resignation after the latest crisis over the minister's statements.

The minister said in a statement: "In the light of latest circumstances related to my interview with one of the TV channels, I had the honor of meeting the president and submit my resignation as a foreign minister. It aims to prevent any chances for making use of the latest incident for offending Lebanon and the Lebanese people."
The latest statements issued by Wahbe sparked a wide controversy especially with the Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and Emirates.
