The government of Chad has declared calm and closed the country's border with Sudan.
The statement read: "Chad appeals to the regional, global, as well as all friendly countries to prioritise a return to peace."
It stated that its 1,403 km (872 mi) border with Sudan would be closed till further notice.
Fighting between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese military, which is led by General Arl-Burhan, has broken out in various locations throughout the country, including the capital Khartoum.
After weeks of rising tensions between military head Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy, paramilitary commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, explosions shook the capital city of Sudan on Saturday.
According to media reports, the RSF attacked General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's apartment at the army headquarters at around 9 a.m. local time.
