CBE: Remittances of Egyptians Abroad Hit $8.1 Bln during Q1

The remittances of Egyptians working abroad recorded during Q1 of the FY2022/21, an increase of 1.5% to record about $8.1 billion, compared to about $8 billion, year-on-year, according to Deputy Governor of the Economic Research Sector at the Central Bank of Egypt Adel Abdel Azim.

According to a statement on Tuesday, the total transfers during the period January/September 2021 amounted to about $24 billion, an increase of about $1.9 billion or 8.8%, year-on-year.

The preliminary data for remittances of workers abroad during the month of September 2021 also showed a decline at a slight rate of 3% (on an annual basis) to record about $2.62 billion compared to about $2.70 billion during the same month last year.
