The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) revealed the truth about what is being circulated on some social media pages and news sites regarding the bank’s request to banks to set a maximum limit on daily and monthly cash withdrawals in foreign currencies starting from September 2024.
The Central Bank of Egypt said that regarding setting a maximum limit on daily and monthly cash withdrawals in foreign currencies from banks, it is up to each bank individually to determine its policy regarding it and have it approved by its board of directors.
The bank said on the contrary that the daily cash withdrawals in local currency became 250,000 pounds instead of 150,000 pounds, and 30,000 pounds from ATMs instead of 20,000 pounds, to facilitate those dealing with banks.
