On Thursday, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that banks operating in Egypt will be closed from Thursday to Tuesday, 20-25 April, to celebrate the blessed Eid Al-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day.
"On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day holidays, all banks operating in Egypt will be closed from Thursday to Tuesday, with work resuming on Wednesday, 26 April 2023," the CBE said in its statement issued on Thursday.
Earlier this week, the Egyptian cabinet announced that employees will be given a paid holiday from 20 to 25 April on the occasion of Eid El-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day.
Last week, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Monday 17 April is an official paid holiday to celebrate Sham El-Nessim.
The CBE also announced last a week a 2-day bank holiday for Easter and Sham El-Nessim on Sunday and Monday, 16-17 April.
