The great Egyptian cartoonist "Gomaa Farhat" passed away on Friday at the age of 80.
Farhat has a long career in the profession, with a career spanning over nearly 60 years. He obtained a bachelor's degree from the College of Commerce in 1964.
The cartoonist joined "Rosa El-Youssef" Press Foundation in 1964, and continued his dedication as a cartoonist for nearly 4 decades.
He also worked as a painter for Al-Ahram Weekly newspaper, since its first publication in 1990.
He won the Mostafa Amin and Ali Amin Award for Best Egyptian Cartoonist fin 1999, and won the Journalists Syndicate Award twice in 1986 and 1989.
His works have been published in the American "Herald Tribune", the Japanese "Yomiuri" and many other international publications.
