The Carrefour Hypermarket chain announced the closure of its Downtown branch in New Cairo "Fifth Settlement" after two employees tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a statement, the company indicated that it closed the branch as a precautionary measure to carry out sterilization work, noting that the entire staff, who came in contact with the infected employees were examined and put into quarantine.
It should be noted that this case is the second in the hypermarket after the discovery of another case in the company’s branch in Dandy Mall during the past week.
"Yesterday, a second infected case, a hypermarket employee, was discovered. The Ministry of Health was informed of the matter and all necessary precautions were taken. The patient was hospitalized in a quarantine and a medical examination was carried out on all cases, who came in contact with the employee," Carrefour's official Facebook page wrote, adding that a complete sterilization of the hypermarket was carried.
The hyper's management called on the citizens to take all preventive measures when shopping with adherence to the rules of social distancing to limit the spread of the deadly virus.
It is noteworthy that Carrefour is a French multinational corporation specialized in retail with 12,300 branches worldwide and 374,478 employees.
