CAPMAS: Household Annual Income Increases to EGP 69000

The poverty rates declined for the first time since 1999/2000 to 29% in 2019/2020 compared to 32.5% in 2017/2018, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, (CAPMAS) said on Monday.

CAPMAS added that the average annual household income has increased significantly according to a place of residence in 2019/2020, compared to 2018/2019, at current prices.

The average annual household income around Egypt increased from EGP 60.4 thousand in 2017/2018 to EGP 69.1 thousand in 2019/2020, with an increase of 14.3%. The average annual net income for a family in the urban communities increased from EGP 69.6 thousand in 2017 / 2018 to EGP 80.9 thousand in 2019/2020, an increase of 16.4%.

The average annual income for a household in the countryside of Egypt was EGP 52.7 thousand in 2017/2018, compared to EGP 59.7 thousand in 2019/2020, an increase of 13.3%.
