CAPMAS: Egypt’s Exports Increased by 40% to $29.7 Billion

Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that Egypt’s exports during the first three quarters of 2021 increased by 40%, on an annual basis.

The statistics indicated in a statement issued on Sunday that the value of Egyptian exports rose to $29.7 billion during the period from January to the end of September, compared to $21.2 billion during the same period in 2020.

The most important commodity groups whose exports increased were concentrated in the group of fuels and mineral oils, which amounted to $8.3 billion during (January-September) 2021, compared to $4.2 billion in 2020, followed by plastics and its products, which amounted to $2 billion compared to $1.2 billion, year-on-year.

The group of machines, electrical and mechanical devices and their parts came in third place, reaching $1.9 billion during (January-September) 2021, compared to $1.3 billion in 2020, followed by iron and steel and its products, which amounted to $1.7 billion during the first nine months of this year, compared to $724 million in 2020.

The exports of the ready-made garments group recorded about $1.7 billion, compared to $1.2 billion, year-on-year-, followed by fertilizers, which amounted to $1.4 billion, compared to $1 billion in 2020.

Then came the group of aluminum and copper, which amounted to $820 million during (January-September) 2021, compared to $506 million in 2020, followed by the group of food preparations (vegetables and fruits), which amounted to $715 million, compared to $485 million in 2020.

Exports of cement, gypsum and natural phosphates amounted to $617 million during the first three quarters, compared to $358 million year-on-year, followed by glass and its products, which amounted to $432 million, compared to $313 million, a year earlier.
