(CAPMAS): Egypt Succeeds in Reducing Number of Births Throughout Last 5 Years

The data of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) confirmed the decline in the number of births during the last 5 years, which reflects the tangible efforts in facing the population increase.

This positive change was also shown by the data of the Egyptian Family Health Survey, where the fertility rate decreased from 3.5 births per woman in 2014 to 2.85 births per woman. 2021.

The data collected and analyzed by the experts of the CAPMS revealed that despite this decline, the current number of births is still around 2.2 million annually, depleting the state's resources and devouring development efforts.

The data indicated that the current fertility levels (2.85), if stable, lead to the population of Egypt reaching 119 million in 2030 and 165 million in 2050, while the population will reach 117 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050 if the levels of fertility decrease.
