CAPMAS: 7.02 %Increase in Manufacturing and extractive Index during March 2023

Central Agency for public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued on / 5 /6/2023 a press release of primary data of manufacturing and extractive industries of production index of March 2023.

CAPMAS has updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 and at the level of main indices of industrial activity according to Industrial Activity Manual (ISIC Rev.4) and by using the monthly index (for producer prices based on 2012/2013) That's since January 2020.

Manufacturing and extractive industries index (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) reached 113.96 during March2023 (primary) compared to 106.49 during February2023 (final) Increase by 7.02%.

Economic Activities that witness an increase are as followed:

• The Manufacture of food products reached 171.70 during March 2023, compared to February2023, reaching 157.67, an increase by 8.90 % due to cover the needs of the market with the advent of the Ramadan season.

• The Manufacture of beverages; reached 354.76 during March 2023, compared to February2023, reaching 281.53, an increase by 26.01% due to cover the needs of the market with the advent of the Ramadan season.

• Manufacture of electrical equipment; reached 132.23 during March 2023, compared to February2023, reaching 139.18 a decrease by 4.99%, due to the lack of raw materials due to the unavailability of supply orders.

• Manufacture of furniture ; reached 132.27 during March 2023 , compared to February2023, reaching 141.20 a decrease by 6.32%, due to market needs.
