Capital International Airport has entered a new operational phase, marking its gradual transformation into a key hub within Egypt’s air transport network.
The milestone was highlighted by the launch of Ercairo’s first regular international flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, earlier this week, signaling the airport’s readiness to play an increasingly active role in regional and international travel.
The development aligns with the government’s strategic plan to redistribute air traffic across Egyptian airports, maximizing the operational capacity of modern airports, alleviating congestion at major hubs such as Cairo International Airport, and enhancing travel to and from the New Administrative Capital and surrounding areas.
Sameh El-Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, said that the operation of Ercairo flights from Capital International Airport reflects the state’s strategy to optimize new airports, facilitate passenger movement, and ensure sustainable operations. He emphasized that the initiative underscores the airport’s operational readiness and high-quality service standards.
“The launch of these flights provides direct support to Egypt’s air transport system,” El-Hefny added, “enhancing operational flexibility and promoting a more balanced distribution of air traffic.”
