Canada will suspend passenger flights coming from India and Pakistan for a month over COVID-19 new strains outbreak, Reuters reported on Friday.
The decision will come into force on Friday night and it will be applied only on passenger flights as part of confronting the third wave of the virus.
Canadian Health Minister Patty Hajdu explained that 50 percent of the positive COVID-19 cases detected in the Canadian airports are Indian passengers.
"By eliminating direct travel from these countries, public health experts will have the time to evaluate the ongoing epidemiology of that region and to reassess the situation," she asserted.
Canada was not the earliest country that suspend flights from India due to the ongoing tragic situation of the pandemic in the Indian lands, in addition the outbreak of double mutated Coronavirus strains.
On Thursday, the UK issued travel ban for passengers coming from India, on the other hand, France imposed an obligatory 10-day quarantine for travelers who come from India, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and South Africa last week.
