Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney condemned what he described as an “illegal invasion” of Lebanon by Israel, calling it a violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
Speaking to reporters in Quebec, Carney said the action represents a breach of Lebanon’s territorial integrity. He added that the stated justification relates to efforts against Hezbollah, but said this does not justify the move.
The remarks come as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel intends to maintain security control over parts of southern Lebanon even after the current conflict ends.
