Canada will provide $14.4 million in financial assistance to support Ukraine’s struggling energy sector, as the country works to recover from widespread infrastructure damage and ongoing power shortages.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko confirmed the funding, describing it as part of Ottawa’s continued support through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
The aid comes as Ukraine faces a prolonged energy crisis driven by severe weather and extensive damage to critical infrastructure since late 2025. Authorities have declared a state of emergency in the energy sector, with many regions still experiencing daily power outages lasting several hours.
The funding is expected to help stabilize electricity supply and accelerate recovery efforts, as Ukraine seeks to restore reliable energy access amid ongoing challenges.
