Canada Imposes Sanctions on 4 Israeli Settlers

Canada has imposed sanctions on four Israeli settlers involved in attacks against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.

These sanctions mark the first time Canada has targeted what its Foreign Ministry describes as "extremist Israeli settlers."

The individuals are accused of directly or indirectly participating in assaults on Palestinian citizens and their properties.

The United States, United Kingdom, France, and New Zealand have previously imposed similar sanctions on Israeli settlers for their involvement in attacks against Palestinians.

According to the Palestinian news agency "Wafa," in 2023, Israeli forces and settler militias carried out 12,161 attacks against Palestinian citizens and their properties in the West Bank.

Of these, 9,751 were carried out by Israeli forces, 2,410 by settler militias, and 206 were joint assaults, according to the Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee.
