The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the launch of the “Canada Celebrates” program as part of the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, in an unprecedented initiative aimed at extending the excitement of the global tournament beyond the host cities to communities across the country.
The program will span 38 stops across 34 communities, covering all Canadian provinces and one territory, ensuring that more than 75% of Canada’s population is within a two-hour drive of the events. This initiative is designed to enhance fan engagement and bring the vibrant atmosphere of the world’s biggest football event to a wider audience nationwide.
“Canada Celebrates” will feature a wide range of activities, including fan zones for live match screenings, football-related events, cultural programs, live music performances, and diverse food experiences reflecting Canada’s rich cultural landscape. The program will run alongside the tournament from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with preliminary stops beginning in early June.
The initiative will also include the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, presented by Coca-Cola, offering fans a unique opportunity to see the original trophy up close in several major Canadian cities, further strengthening the connection between fans and the highly anticipated tournament.
FIFA officials emphasized that the program reflects a strong belief in the vital role of fans and local communities in the success of the tournament. It aims to create an inclusive and festive environment that fosters unity and connection through the universal language of football.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is expected to be the largest edition in the tournament’s history, featuring 48 national teams and 104 matches across 16 host cities in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
“Canada Celebrates” stands out as a key pillar in the tournament’s preparations, aiming to leave a lasting sporting and cultural legacy, inspire future generations, and contribute to the continued growth of football in Canada.
