Canada and Bahamas have introduced temporary travel restrictions linked to the Ebola outbreak affecting Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
Canada said residents of the three African countries will be barred from entering the country for 90 days starting Wednesday, while returning citizens, permanent residents, and eligible travelers from affected areas will face a mandatory 21-day quarantine.
The Bahamas announced an immediate 30-day travel ban and said enhanced health screening and possible quarantine measures would apply to travelers who recently visited the affected countries.
The measures follow a warning from the World Health Organization, which raised the risk level of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola to “very high” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and declared the outbreak an international public health emergency.
The US recently introduced similar entry restrictions targeting travelers linked to the outbreak zones.
