Kenyan President William Ruto has stressed the crucial role of a healthy relationship between Kenya and Egypt in the pursuit of a prosperous, united Africa. During a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Ruto emphasized the shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous continent.

Speaking on the fringes of the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union in Nairobi, Ruto highlighted the mutual interests of both countries, pledging their commitment towards ending conflicts and alleviating suffering in Sudan and other parts of Africa.

He further elaborated on the collaborative strategies Kenya and Egypt are likely to adopt. The focus remains on enhancing trade and investment opportunities, whilst tackling climate change - all for a brighter African future. This message underscores Ruto's commitment to fostering cooperation for the sake of Africa's progress.

The talks came on the heels of President Ruto's plea for a ceasefire amidst escalating tensions in Sudan. Ruto, who had earlier engaged in a phone consultation with General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, insisted on concerted efforts for peace realization in the region.

In his capacity as Chair of the IGAD Quartet of Heads of States on Sudan, Ruto called on the IGAD and Jeddah Processes to unify their efforts towards establishing a durable ceasefire in Sudan. According to him, their collaborative work would provide access to humanitarian aid, protect refugees, and revive the Political Process, thus laying the groundwork for enduring peace in Sudan.

The Kenyan leader further discussed accelerating the restoration of stability in Sudan and supporting refugee-hosting nations during a conversation with the President of Chad, General Mahamet Idriss Deby Itno. Together, these actions exemplify Ruto's dedication to resolving conflicts in Africa and fostering intercontinental unity and prosperity.
