Emerging as a frontrunner in the pursuit of Egyptian football prodigy, Ibrahim Adel, Chelsea Football Club is poised to make waves in the Premier League. It appears the 22-year-old Adel, an Egypt national team player and Pyramids FC standout, first caught the attention of Liverpool superstar, Mohamed Salah. Reportedly, Salah was so taken by Adel's exceptional performances that he suggested Liverpool's manager, Jurgen Klopp, to sign the promising forward.
However, issues related to work permits obstructed Adel's path to Liverpool last year. But, recent alterations in the FA's regulations now permit each club to recruit up to two overseas players who previously did not meet the required points threshold defined by the Governing Body Endorsement criteria.
According to 90min, a host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford, Aston Villa, West Ham, Burnley, and Southampton, have shown interest in the young forward. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey, however, singles out Chelsea as the likely contender to bring Adel on board this summer. In a potential strategy, Bailey suggests that Chelsea might first sign Adel, then loan him out to recently acquired Strasbourg, a club under the ownership of the Chelsea-led Todd Boehly consortium.
On the Talking Transfers podcast, Bailey spoke highly of Adel's prospects, remarking, "He is one of the best young talents in African football. Mo Salah does like him and he recommended him to Liverpool."
It is no surprise that Adel, who recently earned the Player of the Tournament title at the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, has attracted interest not just from the Premier League but also from football clubs in France, Spain, and Germany. Nonetheless, 90min reports that the young forward's preferred choice remains the Premier League, potentially placing Chelsea in a favourable position in the upcoming transfer season.
