Cameroon’s Minister of Labour Signs the Statute of OIC Labour Centre

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, has received His Excellency Gregoire Owona, Cameroon’s Minister of Labour and Social Security in his office at the Organisation’s Headquarters in Jeddah.

Minister Owona who was on a working visit to the OIC proceeded with the signing of the Statute of the newly established OIC Labour Centre which is a specialized OIC institution based in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the bilateral meeting that ensued, the two sides stressed the need for an increased intra-OIC cooperation in the domain of Labour for the mutual benefit of all Member States.

It is worth noting that Cameroon is the 18th OIC Member State to sign the Statute of the OIC Labour Centre which entered into force last year with the generous support of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the host country of the Centre.

The OIC Secretary-General seized the occasion to call on other Member States to sign and ratify the document in order to fully participate in the activities of the Centre and contribute to achieving the objectives for which it was established.
