At least 19 people have died and 585 others have been infected in a cholera outbreak in Cameroon’s Far North Region since late June, according to health authorities.
Officials said the outbreak has been confirmed in seven of the region's 37 health districts, prompting calls for a stronger response involving local communities and public health partners.
Authorities also urged residents to maintain proper sanitation, eliminate stagnant water and follow hygiene measures to help contain the spread of the disease and protect vulnerable communities.
