Cairo's Monodrama..1st Activity of Egypt-Russia Cultural Year 2020

Russia will be the guest of honor in the Cairo International Monodrama Festival in its third session. 15 countries will participate in 16 theatrical shows and workshops from 8 to 12 February at the Al Hanager Center for Arts in the Cairo Opera House.

Dr. Osama Raouf, head of the festival, said that this year’s session is an exceptional- Russia will take part as a guest of honor by “a phone call" displaying on the second day of the festival.

 

During the festival, a seminar will be held with the Russian artist" jasmin hagras", the granddaughter of the late Egyptian poet Naguib Sorour; it will be the first Russian participation in a public activities program Egypt Russia Cultural 2020.

The festival will feature two Egyptian shows, "The Actor" and "Messages"; a joint- Saudi Arabia- Tunisia show called "a declared suicide" will be the third one to be displayed.

The event will be opened by a Korean show titled "Home" and will end with a Spanish show called "Nomeolvides", in addition to a Swedish-Iraqi show called "Sumerians", and a Kuwaiti show called "The waves embrace", and from Tunisia entitled "Faded" and from France "The storytelling platform" and from Germany "Haare" and from Libya "Al-Kannas" and from Sudan "Loss" and from the authority of Oman "Roses".

At the end of the festival, winners will be announced with a special honor for the symbols of the monodrama, the winners will include artist Mohi Ismail.

This will be preceded by a special event for honoring artist Salah Al-Saadani during the opening as a distinguished figure of the third session.

The 5 day- event will include two workshops for the monodrama theater art presented by the actor and acting coach François Kaléka from France and the second by director, actor and acting coach Landry Kouamé from Cote d'Ivoire.

It is worth mentioning that the members of the festival jury will include Emad Al-Waslati from Tunisia, Alain bressand from France, Mubarak Al-Mazal from Kuwait, Samia Habib and artist Fadi Fouquet from Egypt.
