Students from the fourth year at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University have launched a public awareness campaign titled “7 Laffat”, as part of their graduation project in the Public Relations Department. The initiative aims to raise awareness among Egyptian families about the importance of choosing safe and sustainable products for children, emphasizing their impact on child health and the home environment.
The campaign seeks to promote a culture of responsible consumption within Egyptian households, encouraging families to consider how everyday purchasing decisions can influence both children’s well-being and environmental sustainability. The students behind the initiative believe that even small choices when buying children’s products can contribute to protecting health and reducing environmental harm.
“7 Laffat” relies on a comprehensive communication strategy that includes the production of interactive digital content across social media platforms. The campaign also involves organizing awareness activities and educational events both inside and outside the university campus, aiming to reach a wider audience of young people and families.
As part of its outreach activities, the campaign team is preparing to participate in an informational event during the Faculty of Mass Communication’s Ramadan iftar gathering at Cairo University, where the initiative will be introduced to students and attendees while encouraging direct engagement and discussion about the campaign’s goals.
Members of the campaign team explained that “7 Laffat” goes beyond being a graduation project, describing it as a community-oriented initiative designed to raise awareness about child health, environmental responsibility, and sustainable consumption practices.
The campaign is implemented by a group of senior students from the Faculty of Mass Communication under the academic supervision of Dr. Taghreed Magdy and Dr. Shaimaa Nabil. The project reflects the university’s continued support for student initiatives that contribute to community development and promote awareness of contemporary social issues.
Through its message and activities, “7 Laffat” seeks to inspire families to adopt safer and more responsible consumption habits, ensuring a healthier environment for children while supporting broader sustainability goals.
