Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, addressed Monday posts published on social media from his 1984’s book “Marital problems and solutions in the light of the Quran and Sunnah”.
The book drew the attention of some respectable female writers and leaders, who puzzled over the validity of contextual phrases.
In a statement, Elkhosht affirmed his unequivocal stand and belief in the complete gender equality in rights and duties as well as empowering Egyptian women in the workplace.
He noted that the book is currently unavailable in the market and was a reading of some heritage books that dealt with married life and the spousal relationship.
Elkhosht uncovered that he wrote the book when he was twenty years old and presented it for publishing which conducted changes that led to confusion between the researcher's opinion and those of which he relied and led to a dispute between the duo that resulted in the book not being reprinted again.
He affirmed all his writings afterward confirmed his attitude and appreciation for women, as well as worked hard to clarify the rights granted by Islam to women in many of his books.
Elkhosht called writers, media professionals, and activists not to make the same terrible mistake that the takfiris and trolls make when they were cut phrases from their historical and creative context and use it to Infidel writers and intellectuals.
