Cairo University Marks World Intellectual Property Day

In conjunction with World Intellectual Property Day's celebrations, Egypt's Cairo University hosted Monday a symposium entitled: "Contemporary Legal Trends in the Field of Intellectual Property Rights".

The event was held in cooperation with the National Council for Women to highlight the importance and understanding of intellectual property (IP).

The symposium was attended by Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of the University, Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Abdel Hady Al Awady, Director of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Office at Cairo University.

The idea behind the event is to make people know how intellectual property (IP) rights encourage innovation and creativity, according to organizers.

World Intellectual Property Day 2023 is celebrated around the theme 'Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity.

The day was established by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) in 1970. It promotes the role of IP in stimulating innovation and creativity.
