Cairo University Jumps 100 Ranks in Shanghai Ranking

Cairo University has jumped 100 ranks to occupy a 301-400-category place in the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.

In a statement, President of Cairo University Othman Al Khosht said on Friday: "The new ranking is a great success for the Egyptian universities, a matter which reflects the development rate in a one year which reached 20%."

"The rank proves that the research system developed by the university is on the right track," Khosht noted.

Cairo University allocated large budgets for the scientific research and awards for the researchers whose research are internationally published as well as publishing scientific magazines.

The university was almost ranked among the top 500 universities globally, but now it has entered the top 300 universities.

Also, Ain Shams and Alexandria universities were ranked in the 701-800, category, followed by Mansoura University which was placed in the 801-900 category.

ARWU has been presenting the world top 500 universities annually based on transparent methodology and objective third-party data.

It has been recognized as the precursor of global university rankings and the most trustworthy one.
