Cairo Univ. Produces 5 Tons of Disinfectants Daily to Counter Corona

Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khosht, President of Cairo University, said that the detergents and disinfectants unite at faculties of agriculture and pharmacies produces about 5 tons of disinfectants daily, thanks to the presence of a production line of 5 stainless steel tanks equipped with an automatic mold, that facilitates the mixing and homogenization processes during preparation.

Among the most important antiseptics produced by the university are, alcohol hand gel – antibacterial hand soap- cleaner and disinfectant for various surfaces, and floors, according to Egyptian standards that are used to reduce and curb the spread of the emerging coronavirus.

Moreover, the university president noted that the quality and efficiency of antiseptics are tested after production by Microbiology laboratories affiliated to the Research Laboratories complex at the Agriculture faculty, through monitoring the quality of various products using different concentrations of many pathogens in order to ensure the effectiveness of the products.

In addition, El-Khosht also directed the disinfection teams of the Agriculture faculty to use these antiseptics to sterilize the university’s colleges and students hostels to combat the outbreak of the Coronavirus, as well as to sell the surplus production to the public at an economic price.
