Cairo Univ. to Launch 1000 African Leaders Final Phase

The African Studies and Research Institute is preparing to launch the fifth and final phase of its cooperation in the African Presidential Leadership Program (APLP) with the participation of 1000 African leaders in partnership with the Leaders' Foundation, according to Sayed Rashad, General Coordinator for African Student Affairs at Cairo University.

Rashad pointed out that the last phase will start after the mid-year vacation and will last until the graduation of the first batch, in conjunction with Egypt's handover to the presidency of the African Union in March.

Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the project is Egypt's contribution to African countries, since 34 of these countries will participate in the project for over a year.

Rashad explained in exclusive statements to "See" that the university intends to start the 13th Pan African Parliament Simulation Model, affiliated to the African Communication Association, for the first time in its history with the participation of parliament members.

The MPs along with university professors will be involved in the training sessions and lectures of the African leaders.

He pointed the institute will also participate in the activities of the 51st Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) through launching an African cultural forum over 6 days.

The forum will cover various African affairs including culture, languages ​​, and history, in a way that serves the African Union (AU) agenda 2036.

The sessions are expected to take place, with a gathering of the most select professors, at the main hall of the book fair, starting from Jan. 29 until Feb. 3.

It is noteworthy that all activities launched in the institute come under the supervision of the university's President Muhammad Othman Elkhosht, and the Dean for African Research and Studies Mohamed Nofal.
