Egypt has strongly condemned an attack attributed to the Rapid Support Forces targeting the Mistariha area in North Darfur, which resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of the only healthcare facility in the area.

In an official statement, Cairo expressed its firm rejection of all forms of violence and violations against civilians and medical facilities, describing such acts as a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law. Egypt stressed the necessity of protecting healthcare infrastructure and medical personnel at all times.

Egypt reaffirmed its long-standing position on the crisis in Sudan, underscoring its commitment to the country’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement rejected any attempts that could undermine Sudanese state institutions or threaten national cohesion.

Cairo also emphasised the urgent need for an immediate humanitarian truce as a step toward a sustainable nationwide ceasefire, while calling for comprehensive political solutions that meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

The statement added that Egypt will continue its diplomatic engagement at both regional and international levels to support efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan. It highlighted Cairo’s role within the international quartet framework and its push to strengthen the humanitarian response and ensure safe, sustained access for aid to affected areas.
