The festival runs for three days at the Tahrir Cultural Centre, Ewart Hall and garden (AUC Tahrir campus), the fountain stage, Darb 1718, Room Art Space, NWT, Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel, and Cairo Jazz Club.

In this year’s edition, the performances will feature artists from Egypt, the Netherlands, Jordan, Portugal, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Italy, Hungary, and Morocco.

It will also present a number of new Egyptian jazz bands such as Circle of four with the participation of rising Egyptian jazz singer Amna El Abd, Gypsy Jazz project and Sherif Mostafa as well as Groove Ensemble, which consists of a group of students.

The 11th edition of CJF is held under the auspices of the American University Administration, Tahrir Cultural Center, and the Arts Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Studies.

A number of events are also scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the festival, such as workshops, jam sessions, screenings of documentaries, music programs for children, and a photo exhibition documenting 10 years of the festival from its inception in 2009 to 2019.

The first edition of CJF was founded in 2009 by pianist, composer, and producer Amro Salah driven by the passion to celebrate Jazz and paying tribute to one of the unique forms of music that magically diffuses and overwhelms humans all over the planet from Alaska to New Zealand, according to Cairo jazz fest website.

Jazz has become a global phenomenon and has affected humanity due to its being a human experience more than being a music style.

The festival aims to make Jazz  reach more people not only as a music genre but as a thought and a life experience with its ideas, freedom of expression and innovation.

It managed to maintain a reputation of presenting the best of the world’s Jazz. CJF hosted on its stage Jazz with Spanish, German, Japanese, Moroccan, American, Portuguese and Lebanese flavors featuring famous Jazz Masters such as Gilberto Gil, Ziad Rahbani, Carles Benavent, Kazumi Watanabe and Han Bennink and fresh wild modern Jazz of the E.M.J.O to World Jazz Sound of Eftekasat and Calima.
