Cairo Hosts High-Level Talks on Horn of Africa Security

Cairo hosted a series of high-level meetings on Sunday as part of Egypt’s efforts to support peace, security and stability in the Horn of Africa.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate talks with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the US President for Arab and African Affairs.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the meetings formed part of continued consultation and coordination among the parties concerned with developments in the strategically important region.

The talks focused on strengthening security and stability across the Horn of Africa and supporting regional and international efforts to consolidate peace.

The participants also discussed ways to address security challenges and advance cooperation capable of supporting wider regional stability.

Egypt has continued to coordinate with regional and international partners on developments in the Horn of Africa and efforts to prevent tensions from undermining security in the region.
